His name was Matt Swarts, and I had a crush on him from the 5th grade until the summer after our first year out of high school. He was the cousin of the only real friend I had, he was the reason I started listening to Metallica, but he never paid attention to me beyond “one of the guys” type of acquaintance interactions. Like a majority of people in my life, he decided to use me to make my “friend” jealous. Which worked because why would a guy like him, or any guy for that matter, make out and genuinely be interested in an ugly piece of shit like me, right?
Still like Metallica, though.
